HOPES AND DREAMS- (March 2019)

Ink and pencil crayon
-This piece is the first one that I made after weeks of planning and
researching in my sketchbook. I can still remember drawing this in
my sketchbook on the flight back from Mexico in a couple hours
and presenting it to my teacher as a rough draft when to my surprise,
she tore the page out of my sketchbook and told me that it was now my
good copy. I really grew as an artist since this was the first time that I
had really planned with this much depth, worked with ink and decided
to add in subtle colour for effect.

This piece is full of symbolism and means a lot to me:
-The dream catcher is used to ‘catch’ all of my hopes, dreams and values
-The two larger feather symbolize my parents and the four smaller ones
symbolize me, my two sisters and brother. They are blowing in the wind
because family always sticks together no matter what. My family has
always camped and been around water and lakes which is why the feathers
are a greenish-blue.
-The sunflowers symbolize my pets. The larger one in the centre symbolizes
my horse (Picasso) and the smaller ones symbolize my two dogs
(Bruno and Selena). Animals have always been a big part of my life and I
have always gravitated towards them like a sunflower.
-The apple with the pink crayon through it represents my hopes and dreams.
After secondary school, I would like to become a teacher (hence the apple)
who either teaches kindergarten (hence the crayon) or children with special
needs/developmental issues. The colour pink in the crayon symbolizes
friendship, affection, harmony, inner peace and approachability; which are
all things that I will need in the future to excel at my dream job.
-The red and white beads symbolize being Canadian.

Decorated riding crops

I decorated some riding crops using electrical tape, and gimp. It was really simple and took less than 10 mins per crop! Now they look really cool, and match my saddle pads.

Oh Canada!

I know this is a bit late, but here is a cake that I made on Canada Day.
